Author Guidelines

Please read these guidelines before submitting. Full guidance: nexusjournals.org/authors.html.

Article types

  • Original research — up to 8,000 words, structured abstract up to 250 words.
  • Review — up to 10,000 words; systematic reviews should follow PRISMA.
  • Short communication — up to 3,000 words and 3 figures/tables.
  • Case report (clinical journals) — up to 2,500 words; follow CARE and include patient consent.
  • Perspective — up to 3,000 words.

Preparation

  • Word (.docx) or LaTeX/PDF, double-spaced, with line and page numbers.
  • Separate title page with all authors, affiliations, ORCID iDs and corresponding author email; the main manuscript must be anonymised.
  • Abstract and 4–6 keywords.
  • Declarations: author contributions (CRediT), funding, conflicts of interest, ethics approval and consent, data availability.
  • Numbered references (Vancouver or ACS) with DOIs where available.
  • Figures at 300 dpi or higher.

Ethics

Human and animal studies must report ethics committee approval and informed consent. Clinical trials should be registered. Use of AI tools must be disclosed; AI tools cannot be authors.

Submission Preparation Checklist

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it under consideration by another journal (or an explanation is provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The manuscript is in Word (.docx), LaTeX or PDF format, with line and page numbers.
  • Author names and affiliations have been removed from the main manuscript file to allow anonymous review; a separate title page is provided.
  • An abstract, keywords and all required declarations (funding, conflicts of interest, ethics, data availability) are included.
  • References are numbered and include DOIs where available.
  • All authors have approved the submission and agree to publication under the CC BY 4.0 licence.

Original Research

Full-length original research articles. Up to 8,000 words with a structured abstract.

Review

Narrative and systematic reviews. Up to 10,000 words; systematic reviews should follow PRISMA.

Short Communication

Concise reports of significant new findings. Up to 3,000 words and 3 figures/tables.

Perspective

Opinion and perspective pieces on emerging topics. Up to 3,000 words.

Case Report

Clinical case reports following CARE guidelines, with documented patient consent. Up to 2,500 words.
