Peer Review Process
Double-anonymised peer review
All research articles in NEXUS Journal of Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence undergo double-anonymised peer review: reviewers do not know the authors' identities, and authors do not know the reviewers' identities.
Process and timeline
- Initial check (about 1 week): the editorial office checks scope, formatting, anonymisation, ethics statements and similarity.
- Editor assignment: the Editor-in-Chief assigns a handling editor with relevant expertise.
- Peer review (about 3-5 weeks): at least two independent experts are invited. Reviewers are asked to respond to invitations within 1 week and to submit reports within 3 weeks.
- Decision: accept, minor revision, major revision, or decline. Authors receive all reviewer comments.
- Revision: authors submit a revised manuscript with a point-by-point response; it may be returned to reviewers.
- Production: copyediting, proofs, and online publication.
Reviewer selection
Reviewers are chosen for their expertise and independence. Reviewers from the same institution as the authors, recent co-authors, or anyone with a conflict of interest are excluded. Authors may suggest or oppose reviewers in their cover letter.
Editorial independence
Editorial decisions are based solely on scientific merit. Editors who are authors of a submission are excluded from its handling.
Appeals
Authors may appeal a decision by writing to the editorial office with a reasoned explanation. Appeals are considered by an editor not involved in the original decision.
